HUGS is a prevention program for students in K-3. the programs focus is to identify students with minor school adjustment concerns and to provide these students with extra attention and support. Linda Gault and Nancy Belden are trained paraprofessionals who have worked in the program for fifteen years. Working under the supervision of the school counselor and school psychologist, they address issues of shyness, self-esteem, peer interactions etc. through play once a week for thirty minutes. The HUGS program has been funded for fifteen years through a state grant. For more information please call Canterbury Elementary School at 546-6744.
