Parent Volunteers

Many hands are needed in a classroom of five year olds, and parent volunteers are a welcome and necessary part of our program. We usually take a month or so to acclimate the students to the classroom routine and the new adults in their lives before parents are invited to volunteer in the classrooms. You are welcome to volunteer on a regular basis, weekly or monthly, for a special project or a field trip, or just a visit now and then. Parents may work with a small group during the day, circulate during center time or do some work in the workroom while students are at whole group. Chaperones are always needed and the more we have the better.

PTO

YOU'RE INVITED TO JOIN THE PTO

We would like to invite you to join the Canterbury, Elementary School PTO. The PTO is a great way to meet other parents, teachers, and administrators in the school. Each year we sponsor a Halloween party and spring breakfast. Our annual fall fundraiser allows us to provide the school with equipment not included in the budget and for school assemblies. In the past, we have purchased books for the children, stage improvements, a climbing wall, and pavilion.

Our meetings are held once a month and we are looking for some new ideas and new faces. In the beginning of the school year, we will be sending out a questionnaire about convenient times for meetings and areas of interest. Please take the time to fill it out and return it to the school. Thank you!
