Kindergarten classes take three field trips each year. The first, in October, is a trip planned in conjunction with our preschool classes to the pumpkin farm. Activities preceding and following this trip include stories and math activities in which pumpkins play a leading role. Also in October, the Canterbury volunteer fire company brings a field trip right to the school. The fire truck and ambulance visit during fire safety week.
In early spring a trip is scheduled for Mik-Ran sugarhouse to view first-hand one of the most delicious signs of spring--maple-sugaring.
In May each year all three classes take full day trip together to the Children's Museum of Southeastern CT. in Niantic. This trip is a culmination of all our thematic work in science and social studies and include lunch at the local MacDonald's.
